Motley Crue Want American Idol Theme Show
SleazeRoxx reports: Imagine the male contestants on American Idol donning pink lingerie to help get their glam rock on. Sleazerooxx has the story: Motley Crue singer Vince Neil is vying to get his rock band featured on reality TV show American Idol after meeting the singing competition's former winner Carrie Underwood.

Neil admits he initially dismissed the series as a karaoke competition, but quickly became a fan of the show after meeting the blonde country star. Underwood's cover of the rockers' hit song Home Sweet Home is now featured as the anthem for this season's departing contestants.

And Neil has become such a big fan of Underwood and the show that made her famous, he's now eyeing a Crue-themed night for the series' remaining singers. He tells the New York Post, "Knowing that she was a fan made it a lot easier... That (having a Motley Crue theme) would really shake them up wouldn't it? Might be good for the show." [??? doesn't he really it would be mean good for Motley Crue's sales? Perhaps Idol could also do a show with the 90s answer to Motley Crue: Limp Bizkit =)] - more on this story

Velvet Revolver Did Pick A New Singer
Blabbermouth reports: Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan has told RollingStone.com that the band does not yet have a new lead singer. However, turns out all those recent reports that the group was close to naming their guy also were true.

"We thought we landed on the singer. We all did," McKagan said. "We played with him and we said, 'OK, we got our guy. He's great.'"

McKagan told RollingStone.com the group simply had second thoughts. "Maybe if we would've got there and had gigs booked right then and there it would've been a different story," McKagan said. "But we didn't have gigs booked. We were given too much time and we were able to go, 'Ah, f**k, I don't like that about the guy.'" - more on this story

Underoath Slams Avenged Sevenfold as a Gimmick Band
Punknews.org reports: In the latest Metalhammer, Underoath shared some choice words for popular punk/glam metal act Avenged Sevenfold. Guitarist Tim McTague explained:

"People might associate us with Avenged Sevenfold because they're pissed Republicans and 'so metal', but they're a gimmick, they're a circus. They can't play and they can't write a song. What's worse is the way they look.

"If you need to have make-up and crappy names like Synyster Gates to sell records, then you shouldn't be here. That's not rock'n'roll to me. Arena rock maybe, but not real rock'n'roll. If you're basing yourself on how cool you are or how many girls you can trick into thinking your band is cool you can just… take that home." - more on this story

New Nirvana Live DVD A Bootleg, Official DVD Planned
Rock Radio reports: Universal Music have confirmed that the Nirvana DVD announced yesterday is a bootleg but an official release of Live at Reading 1992 is coming in November.

Online fan groups raised the alarm after the artwork of the long-awaited release, titled Life Takes No Prisoners, didn't live up to expectations. It later became apparent that the version on offer has been in circulation for some time, and even if it's been improved it won't have been made from master recordings.

Universal moved quickly to confirm that the release by Stomp Records isn't approved by surviving band members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, or the estate of Kurt Cobain managed by widow Courtney Love and her associates. - more on this story

Lil Wayne Loses Documentary Lawsuit
Billboard reports: A state court judge has refused a request by rapper Lil Wayne to block the release of a documentary titled "The Carter," based on his life.

The artist sued QD3 Entertainment - a company owned by producer Quincy Jones III, son of legendary musician Quincy Jones - and Digerati Holdings last month, alleging the company failed to comply a deal that would allow him to have approval of the film's final version, reports Variety.

According to allhiphop.com, the rapper took issues with scenes that displayed his drug use in the documentary, which follows him around Amsterdam. According to the lawsuit, Lil Wayne's manager reviewed "The Carter" in December and requested that the scenes be removed. But in January, when the film premiered during the Sundance Film Festival, the scenes were still in the film. - more on this story

New Jet Album Landing in August
PR reports: Jet return to form with their long awaited third album, 'Shaka Rock' which is set to hit stores on August 25th. Here a little bit their PR sent over about the album:

After almost four million albums sold worldwide and four Top Ten (Modern Rock) hits, the Australian rockers have returned to form with an album that parallels their smash debut, Get Born, which produced hits like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and "Cold Hard Bitch." The new album closes the gap between the raw roots of Get Born and the grace and melody of Shine On (recorded just after the passing of Nic and Chris Cester's father), which together went on to make Jet an international band of style and substance. Shaka Rock captures the charisma and energy of classic rock and roll with just enough punk swagger and contemporary flair to create something uniquely Jet.

When speaking about the new album Chris Cester states, "I think Shaka Rock is like when TV went color. It's our musical equivalent. There are moments on this record that are just pure...and moments that just rock harder than we ever have before." - more on this story
