80s New Wave Rocker Dies While Driving
Billboard reports: Randall Bewley, guitarist and founding member of new wave band Pylon, died Wednesday (Feb. 25) afternoon after a heart attack on Monday in his hometown of Athens, Georgia, according to a report by The Athens Banner-Herald.

Bewley was driving on Monday (Feb. 23) when his van drifted off the road and tipped over, according to an email circulated by bandmate Vanessa Hay.

Pylon was formed in 1979 by University of Georgia art students Bewley, bassist Michael Lachowski, drummer Curtis Crowe and Hay - then Vanessa Briscoe - on vocals. The group was part of Athens' art oriented dance party scene that also included groups like the B-52's and R.E.M., each of which have often cited Pylon as a favorite and influence. - more on this story

U2 Spider Man Musical A Go
Hecklerspray reports: You heard it once and thought it was a good joke; you heard it again and thought it was a bad joke, and now it's true. The U2 Spider-Man musical is happening.

Faith No More Talk About Jim Martin-less Reunion
antiMusic reports: Faith No More have confirmed their reunion plans but one key member from their heyday is missing: guitarist Jim Martin. You want it all, but you can't have it. Sorry.

The 2009 lineup has been reported as follows: Mike Bordin - Drums * Roddy Bottum - Keyboards * Bill Gould - Bass * Jon Hudson - Guitar * Mike Patton - Vocals.

Bassist Bill Gould issued a statement to Blabbermouth.net that said in part: "Faith No More has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile.

"Throughout our 17 years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe. Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

"What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right." - Read the rest of his statement here and more info on what happened with Jim Martin

Senator Presses Ticketmaster To Sell Their Scalping Site
AP reports: Sen. Charles Schumer has urged Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. to sell off its TicketsNow resale subsidiary that was at the core of an uproar over Bruce Springsteen concert tickets.

Schumer, speaking Tuesday at an antitrust hearing on Tickemaster's proposed merger with leading concert promoter Live Nation Inc., accused Ticketmaster of redirecting Springsteen fans to higher priced tickets on TicketsNow, despite cheaper tickets being available on the main site.

What the company has called a glitch, Schumer said was "more about moneymaking than malfunction." He noted Ticketmaster collected $7 in fees* for every Springsteen ticket sold on Ticketmaster, but $30 for every ticket sold on TicketsNow. "You, Ticketmaster, need to sell TicketsNow and make them independent of you in every way," said Schumer, D-N.Y, in the hearing that was Webcast live. [*that $7 number seem way way way way low for Ticketspammer- yes spammer as they also collect your email and will spam you (or their "partners" will). The best part is their opt-out link doesn't stop the spam! A violation of the Can SPAM law!] - more on this story
