Jack White Plans Solo CD This Year
MusicRadar reports: Jack White really is the hardest working man in show business. Not content with busying himself with the imminent release of The Dead Weather's rather excellent debut LP Horehound and a host of production duties and guest appearances, White apparently plans to start work on a solo album this year.

Speaking to Music Connection, White also had plenty to say about the modern reliance on Pro Tools in the recording environment:

"I think Pro Tools is highly inappropriate to record music. I think it should be used in films or on documentaries. I think for recording music and wanting it to be soulful it's just the biggest mistake you can make.

Daughtry Announce New Album Details
RCA reports: As Daughtry prepares for the July 14 release of LEAVE THIS TOWN (19 Recordings/RCA), the band is ready to reveal details behind the follow-up to its Grammy-nominated, quintuple-platinum debut.

Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely recorded the album's 12 songs in Los Angeles with returning producer Howard Benson (All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance).

Many of the songs from LEAVE THIS TOWN, Daughtry says, reflect how where we've been determines where we're going, including the first single "No Surprise," which has been the #1 most added at Hot AC 4 weeks in a row. The "No Surprise" video was directed by Nathan Cox. In it, the song's theme of love gone wrong is expressed through the character's relationship with the town where he lives. "The place you call home can cause heartbreak just like a bad relationship," Chris says. "Places change just like people change. Sometimes the best thing you can do is leave."

The Raveonettes Release Studio Demos
PR reports: This morning, Danish noir rock duo The Raveonettes announced plans to give fans unique access to the recording of their upcoming fourth full-length, a Vice Records song-cycle still without a title, due this Fall.

The fact that the album remains in its infancy isn't stopping Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo from offering fans the chance to hear full studio demos of album tracks while they're still works in progress.

In a longer-form Myspace blog posted earlier today, Wagner said "don't be shy to leave comments for the tunes, we most definitely appreciate your opinion. We want to make the best Raveonettes album to date!" The first song released, tentatively titled "Last Dance," is about "how drug addiction interferes with love," says Wagner, and follows in the woozy, starlit footsteps of 2008's Lust Lust Lust. - Go Here To Download The Raveonettes' "Last Dance (Demo)"

U2 Talk Up Spider-Man Musical
MusicRadar reports: U2's Bono and The Edge are talking about their upcoming Broadway bow as writers for the score to Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark - even though previews don't begin for another seven months.

In a video interview, Bono says, "We were open to the idea of musical theater, but Spider-Man, that's a different thing again, because that's comic books, and there's a whole series of relations between punk rock and rock bands and comic books, that goes back years."

The U2 singer adds that the pair were eager "to mess with all these aspects of pop culture, put them in a blender and see what comes out on the other end." - more including the interview video
