Bono Considers Coldplay's Frontman a Wanker
MusicRadar reports: In a bizarre outburst on a UK radio show, U2 frontman Bono has dubbed Coldplay singer Chris Martin "a wanker" and "a cretin".

The star made the remarks during a live interview with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1. The presenter asked Bono about a previous comment that had seen him compare Martin to Paul McCartney. He replied: "Yeah, I think he's that good a melodist… I mean, he's a wanker."

After being reprimanded by Whiley for his language, Bono apologised and continued: "Obviously he is a completely dysfunctional character and a cretin but he happens to be a genius melodist and I think up there with Ray Davies and Noel Gallagher and Paul McCartney. - more on this story

China Bans Oasis As Band Announces Festival Appearance
antiMusic reports: Good news and bad news in the land of Oasis today. The good news is the band will co-headline the V Festival this summer (The Killers are the co's in this case) and the bad news is the Chinese government has pulled the plug on the band's plan to play gigs in mainland China.

Apparently Noel Gallagher appeared at a "Free Tibet" benefit in 1997 and the ChiComs weren't happy about it. So being ChiComs they grabbed their toys and went home pouting. The band isn't too happy about it. "Representatives from the Chinese government have revoked the performance licenses already issued for the band and ordered their shows in both Beijing and Shanghai to be immediately canceled," Oasis said in a statement.

"The Chinese authorities' action in cancelling these shows marks a reversal of their decision regarding the band which has left both Oasis and the promoters bewildered."
But let's end of a positive note: The V Festival which will take place on August 22nd and 23rd. NME has more details and the

Essential Aerosmith Book Coming
PR reports: 2009 will be a tremendous year for Aerosmith, as the band plans its first album of original material since 2001, which it will support with an extensive summer tour. In celebration of these events and the band's storied accomplishments, a new 298 page book, 'Aerosmith: Essential Interviews' is set for official release through Rock Reader Books/Lulu on May 17, 2009.

Beginning with one of Aerosmith's first extended interviews in 1973, Aerosmith: Essential Interviews lets "America's Greatest Rock & Roll Band" tell its own inspirational story. Spanning the legendary hard rock quintet's 35-plus years, the book chronicles "The Bad Boys from Boston" during their explosive, drug and sex-steered early heyday and the propulsion of mid-70's classics Toys In The Attic and Rocks. The band's fall from grace and initial disintegration as a result of those vices is also explored.

Aerosmith: Essential Interviews documents how Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford not only survived those decadent experiences, but learned from them, evolved artistically and ultimately forged one of the greatest rock comebacks ever.

The Faces May Reunite After All
MusicRadar reports: Earlier this year it looked as though The Faces reunion was full-speed ahead...until both Rod Stewart and Flea (rumored to be on board as bassist) said, "WTF? We don't know what you're talking about."

Now it looks as if the reunion could be back on, but if it happens, if won't be a full-scale tour or album project, as was originally talked about.

According to keyboardist Ian McLagan, who spoke to Billboard, the latest idea is that guitarist Ron Wood, drummer Kenny Jones and McLagan do "a couple shows and film it. Whether Rod (Stewart) wants to do that...I'm hoping he'll be into that 'cause it'll be such a lot of fun. It's what the three of us would like Rod to agree to." - more on this story

A Static Lullaby Goes Toxic Britney Cover
PR reports: A Static Lullaby premiere their new music video for their cover of "Toxic" by Britney Spears today on MTV2. The video will play every hour as a part of Unleashed and will begin regular rotation on Tuesday. This cover will also be featured on the upcoming Punk Goes Pop 2 compilation album set to hit stores on March 10.

The video, directed by Robby Starbuck, is based upon the changes that Britney has seen over the years. "Collectively the band and I really dug deep to match the characteristics of what 'Britney' has become. She has really had a tumultuous journey and we wanted to take fun pieces of that persona and bring it to life around the band and in their own performance," says Starbuck. The video features parodies of the different "Britney's" from her various music videos from "Baby One More Time" through "Womanizer."

"Robby is very creative and put together a great video," says vocalist, Joe Brown. The main focus for the band while making this video was to have fun with it. "While doing such a cover it was important for us to not take things so seriously. It was fun, trashy, swanky and mostly light-hearted. We are grateful to have been a part of all of it."
