Cash Money Singer Found Dead In Underpass
BBC reports: A singer has been found with his throat slit in a pedestrian underpass. Ian Newtion, who was known as Scoobie Santino, was found dead in the underpass at the Greenford roundabout in Greenford on Sunday.

Officers believe Mr Newtion, 45, was returning from Scout Hut in Rockware Avenue, where he had been singing at a party, when he was attacked.

The singer and delivery driver, from Fulham, had a hit single on the reggae charts with Cash Money in the 1990s. - more on this story

Slipknot Murder Trial Begins
Blabbermouth reports: According to the San Bernardino County Sun, the trial of a woman accused of helping her boyfriend stab a friend to death after listening to Slipknot started last Thursday.

Terry Ray Taylor, 21, was stabbed more than 20 times, and his neck was slashed, authorities said.

Deputy District Attorney Karen Khim told jurors that Amber Rose Riley, now 22, and her boyfriend, Jason Lamar Harris, lured Taylor to the park, where they attacked him with butcher knives about 1:30 a.m. May 23, 2003. - more on this story

The Offspring Announce The S*** Is F***ed Up Tour
PR reports: The Offspring have announced they will hit the road this May for their first full North American tour in nearly 4 years. The announcement came via the band's just unveiled "S*** Is F***ed Up" tour widget featuring a mock "presidential address" by Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar). Dexter along with Noodles (guitar), Greg K (bass) and Pete Parada (drums) will kick things off May 15 in Nashville, TN. The tour will feature different openers on each leg and will be highlighted by a hometown show June 5 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA.

Following the success of the single "Hammerhead" and its follow-up "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid," The Offspring remain a favorite on the airwaves with "Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?," the band's third radio hit from their latest Columbia Records release Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace.

Gene Simmons To Pimp Soda
PR reports: Dr Pepper has searched the rock legends to find its latest pop culture doc, KISS frontman Gene Simmons, to introduce new Dr Pepper Cherry. Simmons, who [co]founded the legendary rock band KISS more than 35 years ago, will star in a new commercial, letting fans know that Dr Pepper Cherry has just a KISS of cherry flavor, making it amazingly smooth.

Simmons' 'Dr. Love' will be the third Dr in the Trust Me, I'm a Dr advertising campaign, joining the ranks of basketball legend Dr. J (Julius Erving) and Dr. Frasier Crane (award-winning actor Kelsey Grammer). The TV spot will feature Simmons in full KISS Demon regalia. Nick Simmons, Gene's son, will also star in the commercial.

"When initially describing Dr Pepper Cherry's taste, we felt it had just a kiss of cherry and was so smooth, we knew who our third doctor had to be - Dr. Love," said Allison Methvin, director of marketing for Dr Pepper. Jimmy Chamberlin Explains Smashing Pumpkins Exit
MusicRadar reports: The other day we reported to you that Jimmy Chamberlin, longtime drummer for The Smashing Pumpkins, was leaving the band. No explanation was given at the time, but now Chamberlin is speaking out.

In a posting on his blog today, Chamberlin explains that he's quitting the band because his heart just isn't in it the way it used to be.

"By now you have heard the news of my departure from The Smashing Pumpkins," Chamberlin writes. "I will say, without going into any unnecessary details that this represents a positive move forward for me. I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don't fully possess. I won't pretend I'm into something I'm not. I won't do it to myself, you the fan, or my former partner. I can't just, 'Cash the check' so to speak. - more on this story

Slayer Limited Edition Vinyl
HER reports: "Psychopathy Red," the first new track from Slayer since 2006's thrashterpiece Christ Illusion, will be available as a 7-inch vinyl disc beginning Saturday, April 18, 2009 as part of the third annual Record Store Day.

Only 5,000 of these limited edition discs will be manufactured worldwide, and will be available exclusively at participating independent record stores - log onto www.recordstoreday.com for the list of participating stores.

The blood-red vinyl "Psychopathy Red" 7-inch collectors item will be packaged in a special Russian crime scene "evidence envelope," as the song was inspired by the heinous Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo, aka the Rostov Ripper, who confessed to brutally murdering 56 children. The song was recorded by the band - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - in a Los Angeles recording studio last October. - more on this story

Duran Duran Kaiser Chiefs Collaborate
NME reports: Kaiser Chiefs' drummer and songwriter Nick Hodgson has written a number of songs with Duran Duran for their new album.

The band are currently in the studio with Mark Ronson, who invited Hodgson in to work with Le Bon and co.

"I called Nick a week ago and asked if he'd be interested in coming to work with Duran Duran and write a song" Ronson told NME.COM. The producer says Hodgson worked with the band for "five or six hours", and they wrote three songs together
