Alice in Chains Starr Drug Bust
antiMusic reports: Former Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr isn't having a very good week. For one thing his former band has regrouped and just released a critically acclaimed comeback album without him and now we learn that he was reportedly arrested in Los Angeles last week on a drug charge. It sounds like a good thing he'll be part of the next Celebrity Rehab.

Blabbermouth reported over the weekend: Starr is currently being held at the Bauchet Street Jail in downtown L.A.. His bail is set at $100,000 and he is due for arraignment at the Pasadena Superior court on October 14.

Earlier this year, Starr was selected as a cast member for the third season of the VH1 reality series "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew". Hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky, the season will consist of eight episodes that follow the real-life experiences of celebrity patients undergoing detoxification and treatment at the Pasadena Recovery Center. - more on this story

Foo Zeppelin Queens Group Them Crooked Vultures Spill Some Details
antiMusic reports: It seems like a new super group is popping up every week but few have generated as much excitement with fans as Them Crooked Vultures. If you've been living under a rock for the past few months, this new group features Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. AntiQuiet.com's Skwerl caught up with Homme this weekend at the Austin City Limits and learned some interest details about the group. Here are a couple of excerpts from their conversation.

Antiquiet: I heard this came together at a renaissance-themed birthday party? - Josh Homme: Yeah, well Dave, he mentioned this idea, and we're always looking for a chance to do stuff together, Dave and I. So he said, "you know what, maybe I should ask John Paul Jones!" And I was like, "that'd be awesome. And I'll ask The President. And we can put it all together." And then all of a sudden he starts sending me emails, of correspondence between him and Jones, and I was like 'uhhhh well ----. What do I do?'

I hadn't played guitar for five months, and I was gonna maybe take a break for a second, for my first time in a long time. But then [Dave] has his birthday party at Medieval Times, and of course he sat us right next to each other. That was the blind date. But he sat in the next row behind us, like looking over (laughing) But you know, I think it's fairly common to meet someone from Zeppelin at Medieval Times.

Antiquiet: What's going on with the album? - Josh Homme: Well, we just finished figuring out what songs we're going to put on it, which took a little bit of time. We couldn't decide what [we wanted] to do. Do you make a triple album? An EP? How many songs is too much?

I tend to think that even if you've got a bunch of good songs, maybe you should err on the side of brevity, and keep it tight. But we really enjoy lots of songs, so we couldn't decide.

- He had a lot more to say, check it out here!

Hate Gallery Member Violently Attacked And Arrested
Band Statement reports: Violence broke out at the Hate Gallery show at Pub Anchor in Stockholm, Sweden on 1st October resulting in the arrest of bassist/vocalist Janne Jarvis. What was supposed to be a low-key show for the British/Swedish rockers ended up in chaos. "I've never experienced anything like it" said Jarvis. "The bouncers dragged me out and held me down over a barrier outside. I couldn't breathe and they almost broke my arms. Luckily there were a number of people outside including some journalists who helped me get free."

However this was just the start. "I managed to make it into the middle of the street and was relieved to see that a police car had just pulled up. I tried to explain what had happened but before they could take a statement the bouncers rushed me and grabbed me again, this time with considerably more force. I pleaded with the police to stop them but they just stood back. They looked like they were panicking and didn't seem to know what to do or they were 'friends' with the bouncers. Luckily some more police turned up and they kindly arrested me and took me away.

"I cannot believe how incompetent and incapable the Stockholm police were of protecting a member of the public from this kind of assault. Members of the police force that I spoke to later were amazed and embarrassed that members of their own department did absolutely nothing. - more on this story

Severe Infection Sidelines Skinlab
antiMusic reports: Skinlab's Sons Of A Sik World Tour seems to be cursed. First Mower lost a member on the eve of the outing and now Skinlab has to pull the plug on the tour because frontman Steev Esquivel is sick. Here is what Steev had to say: I went to the hospital last night after dealing with chest and lung pains for the last two weeks on tour. I thought it was just a cold and something that would pass but before the show in Herkamir, NJ. I decided to take myself to the Cooperstown Emergency Room.

I was told my condition was a severe lung infection that my body has not been able to fight, due to the tour schedule we've been dealing with and the nonstop lifestyle that I live just trying to make things happen for the band and so I can tour.

Bottom line is the doctors have told me I've pushed myself to the limit and was lucky enough to get treatment before this turned into full blown pneumonia. Having been told that I am completely bummed to announce that we are going to be cancelling the remaining dates on the Sons Of A Sik World tour. - more on this story

Controversial Hendrix Guitar For Sale
Nightwatcher reports: A Jimi Hendrix Fender Stratocaster guitar with a controversial past is back on the market after its owners, one based in San Diego, settled with the late rock star's estate.

The vintage 1967 electric guitar is a right-handed one that was converted to left-handed to accommodate Hendrix. The owners, Rock Stars Guitars, are asking $500,000 for it.

The instrument, currently on display at the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville, was at the center of a 2001 lawsuit filed in San Diego Superior Court. At dispute were claims by Experience Hendrix LLC that the guitar was stolen shortly after Hendrix's death in 1970, or that it never belonged to him at all. - more on this story

Ike Reilly's Hard Luck Stories
antiMusic reports: Ike Reilly returns with "Hard Luck Stories," which is set for digital release on November 24th. Here is a little background info that Rock Ridge sent over: Hard luck stories. Everybody's got them or heard them, but it takes a special mind and wit to share them with the lyrical dexterity and aplomb that have become the hallmarks (and trademarks) of Ike Reilly's critically-lauded records. Reilly's a raconteur; to be sure, his songs ache and explode with a gritty realism to which everyone can relate on some level. His latest solo offering, entitled "Hard Luck Stories" - a more groove-oriented and melodic album than previous recordings - is a combination of corroded R & B, furious punk-blues, lounge-pop and classic rock, all laced with giant choruses.

Even in light of the melodic assault of "Hard Luck Stories," it is the stories themselves that make this Reilly's most accessible recording to date. The tales, while unique to Reilly in the telling, paint a darkly humorous yet accurate picture of the universal compromise and struggle felt by many folks in America right now - people like the frazzled high school kid who's competing for summer jobs and girls with his ex-coach, the compromising single father who loses custody of his little girl as he goes down for growing weed in their home, the young woman doing the best she can for her war veteran brother as he inadvertently terrorizes their community, and the indie rocker trying to sing a song that finally makes a little money.

Who Needs A Record Label? Terra Naomi Launching Fan Funded Tour
PR reports: Terra Naomi is proof that artists today can use social media marketing instead of a record label to launch and maintain thriving musical careers. After leaving Island Universal Records in 2008, Terra decided to forge ahead with what launched her career as a musical artist: The desire to connect with her fans in a more personal way via numerous online videos and webcasts, and her interactive website.

Today she's embarking on a 20-city, fan-funded U.S. solo tour that will kick off on October 15 in San Francisco to promote her upcoming independent EP, "You For Me". The album will be available on iTunes starting in mid-October with a full-length album expected in early 2010. After posting a 'Tour Support Fund Drive' video on YouTube, she raised her $5,000 goal in two week's time. With over 15 million views of her homemade videos on YouTube, nearly 35,000 subscribers, and an unparalleled interactive dialogue with fans, Terra is once again at the forefront of the new direct artist-to-fan model and can't wait to test out the viability of this approach when she hits the road this month.

In 2006, Terra was a pioneer in the digital age of music when she posted a series of videos filmed in her Hollywood apartment. Naming it her "Virtual Summer Tour," Terra went on to win the first-ever YouTube Award for Best Music Video in 2006 for her song/video "Say It's Possible," inspired by Al Gore's film, An Inconvenient Truth. A chance meeting with Mr. Gore led to a solo performance at Wembley Stadium in London as part of the Live Earth concert in July 2007. - more on this story

Zoroaster Ink New Deal
PR reports: Zoroaster has signed a worldwide recording deal with E1 Music. The celebrated avant-garde trio will enter the studio in early-2010 with producer Sanford Parker (The Gates of Slumber, Pelican) to record its label debut and follow up to 2009's Voice of Saturn. A summer-2010 release is expected.

Zoroaster, the Atlanta-based group who has been called "one of the U.S.'s most promising metal bands" while drawing stark comparisons to Godflesh, Sleep and the Melvins, formed in Atlanta, GA in 2003 out of the need for "sedation by high volumes and low frequencies". Zoroaster has met to shining praise from metal and indie rock press alike, receiving shining accolades for its deafening power, intriguing mysticism, use of left-of-center instrumentation (which has included Moog synths, theremins, ominous vocal choirs and even brass sections) and unique take on heavy music. Zoroaster's live show has been described as "an obliteration of the senses," earning the three piece the title of "Atlanta's loudest band."

"The first time I saw Zoroaster live, I was blown away and knew we had to add them to the growing E1 roster," comments E1 Music VP of Metal Scott Givens. "They push the limits of the metal genre with their music and are unlike any other act out there now. We are honored to be their partners." The signing of Zoroaster comes on the heels of E1 inking the like-minded High on Fire and sees the band join a first rate family of artists that includes such revered names as Satyricon, In Flames and Hatebreed. - more on this story

Inhale Exhale Week: Day One
antiMusic reports: Inhale Exhale's new album, Bury Me Alive, hits stores this week and to celebrate we asked frontman Ryland Raus and guitarist John LaRussa to pick their favorite five tracks from the effort and tell us a little bit about each one. Here they are with today's song "Did You Ever Have A Touch To Lose?"

Ryland Raus: This is a story about a kid that struggles with suicide and many other trials. He escapes temporarily only to stumble upon major troubles as a grown man. It explains the feeling of deja vu that this man experiences. In the chorus of the song, it goes on to explain that "there's still hope" and to be careful to not "drown in what this world has told you".

John LaRussa: This song was a lot of riffs I had in my back pocket so to speak. It was riffs I would use for bridges of songs. I put parts a side that I think would bring a song together and that's what a lot of this song was. It was never intended for a sing but once it came together it became a favorite for us and the label.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
