Day in Rock Part 2

The Mission Reunite With Tim Palmer For New Album

(Classic Rock) The Mission have confirmed they're working with producer Tim Palmer again. Palmer was behind the desk for the band's debut album God's Own Medicine in 1986 and 1990's Carved In Sand. And he's retuned to oversee work on Wayne Hussey and co's follow-up to 2013's The Brightest Light, which is expected to launch later this year.

Guitarist and vocalist Hussey says: "It's been no secret that The Mission have been working on a new album for the last few months. But what we have neglected to tell you is that we are working again with Tim Palmer.

"Although thus far we've only been sending audio files back and forth and speaking via Skype, it's been brilliant to have Tim on board again and getting his input on the songs as we write and arrange them. Tim gets us. He understands us, but brings his own unique viewpoint to our table. With Tim I know we are in safe hands." Read more here.

Pierce The Veil Frontman Struggled To Find Inspiration

(TeamRock Radio) Pierce The Veil frontman Vic Fuentes says he had to escape the recording studio when working on the their latest album as he was struggling to find inspiration.

Their fourth record entitled Misadventures is out tomorrow (May 13) but Fuentes says getting tracks down for the follow-up to 2012's Collide With The Sky was proving difficult - until he and his bandmates decided to get out on the road.

The singer tells Rolling Stone: "When we went into the studio for the first time, we were there for way too long, trying to finish something that we'd felt couldn't happen at that time. I'd been in there for so long, I felt cabin fever.

"I felt like the four walls that I was looking at every day were not gonna inspire an amazing record, so I got out of there. We went on tour - which was very conducive to the record - and when we did get back and it was time to work on the lyrics and finish the thing, I wanted to do the exact opposite of what I had been doing."

"I wanted to travel instead of being stuck in a room. I wanted to stimulate my brain, go to different cities, stay in different houses and work in different studios." Read more here.

Terrorvision's Tony Wright Premieres 'Music Is The Food Of Love'

(Classic Rock) Terrorvision frontman Tony Wright has released a lyric video for his track Music Is The Food Of Love with Classic Rock. It's the opening song on his as-yet-untitled solo album, which is set for release in July.

Wright tells Classic Rock: "My first album Thoughts 'N' All set off from a dark place - wandering through the middles again and finding a good resolve at the end. This album starts from a much more positive and happy starting point."

He adds: "The record is linked to the music I love, likening the people I love to the things I love about music. I pay homage to the songs I grew up with and the folk that sang them - and even ones I didn't sing along to.

"It's about the rhythms, melodies, harmonies and words that are important. Hopefully the storylines that run through speak for themselves." Watch the video here.

Issues Streaming New Song 'Slow Me Down'

(TeamRock Radio) Issues have released an online stream of their track Slow Me Down. The song comes from the US outfit's upcoming album Headspace, which is out on May 20.

Frontman Tyler Carter says Slow Me Down explores the fallout from a broken relationship and reveals it's dedicated to guitar player AJ Rebollo's late aunt.

He tells Rolling Stone: "The song is about a woman who discovers her lover has been having a long term affair and goes off the deep end. She's ultimately brought back to reality by the love and care of her devoted son. There's a line in the song that goes, 'My son, I gotta thank you for calling, not sure who I would be if you stopped looking out for me.'

"I think that every family has that one person who's always looking out for the others - their purpose in life is to provide and always be the rock for their family. The song was written musically as a piece for my guitar player AJ's aunt who passed away. She was his best friend." Check out the new song here.

Five Finger Death Punch's Spencer Halfway Through New Book

(TeamRock Radio) Five Finger Death Punch drummer Jeremy Spencer is halfway through writing his second book - which he says explores his life since he got clean. Spencer's 2014 autobiography Death Punch'd: Surviving Five Finger Death Punch's Metal Mayhem features wild stories from his drug and drink-fuelled past.

And while the follow-up is very much post-rehab, Spencer says fans should still expect some "crazy" stories. He tells Big Smash Radio: "I'm halfway done with the first draft, so it's in the infant stages. And it's just about from the day I got out of rehab up until now.

"It's just as crazy as the other book. Death Punch'd was a lot of using and partying, but this is sober. But it's still crazy. I mean, there's been a lot of life that's happened." Watch the full interview here.

Freedom To Glide Announce New Album 'Fall'

(Prog) Freedom To Glide have announced they'll release their new album entitled "Fall" on July 1st. The record is the second installment of their war and conflict themed trilogy.

It follows their 2013 release, Rain. While Rain embodies "the realisation of, or an awakening to, the effects of war", the Midlands duo say Fall has a more reflective, 'coming to terms' feel to it.

They add: "We were asked by one of our fans how we were going to follow up Rain and tackle the issues of 'that difficult second album' bands seem to have, but in reality we knew from the start what we wanted to produce." Read more here.

Sylosis Frontman Josh Middleton Announces Solo Album

(TeamRock Radio) Sylosis frontman Josh Middleton has announced he's recording a solo album. Hollowed-Out Planetoid will be released under the JMP banner and although a firm launch date has still to be decided, it'll have a distinct "70s prog vibe."

Middleton says: "I will be releasing a solo album that I've been working on for the past year real soon. It's got a 70s prog vibe to it. No Kickstarter campaign but it was all self-funded and will be self-released."

He's decided to release the album on digital formats only - and while he reports not everyone will be happy with that choice, it comes down to the project's independent roots. Read more here.

Loverboy Reveal Hurtin' Lyric Video

(Classic Rock) Loverboy have released a lyric video for their track Hurtin'. It's the band's first single since their 2014 album Unfinished Business, and they've unveiled it in the lead-up to their North American tour at the end of the month.

Guitarist Paul Dean says: "I took what they gave me, changed it up a bit, and came up with a melody and a couple of hooks. The idea was to create an anthem for the home crowd to sing about putting a 'hurtin' on the other team.

"We worked really hard to get it just right for all our Loverboy friends and fans." The band kick off their North American run at Bossier City's Diamond Jacks Casino in Los Angeles on May 28. Watch the video and see the tour dates here.

Anthrax's Benante Looks Back At Bad Momentum Period

(Classic Rock) Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante says the band could have used more of a guiding hand following the release of 1991 album Persistence Of Time. It was the last record with frontman Joey Belladonna before he returned for 2011's Worship Music. And the sticksman says that record label issues and the fact the band were "arrogant" led to the start of their "bad momentum period."

Benante tells One On One With Mitch Lafon: "I don't have many regrets. I just wish that maybe we weren't so arrogant about things or even ignorant about certain things. Maybe if there were people around us saying 'no' rather than 'yes, let them do whatever they want,' maybe things would have changed here and there."

He adds: "There was that period in the 90s where it wasn't good. But I don't think we could have prevented what was happening. Heavy metal was just a bad name and I think we all had to ride it through." Read more here.
