Judas Priest Explain Why K.K. Downing Was Not Asked To Return

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford explained in a new interview why the band decided not to asked former guitarist K.K. Downing to rejoin the band when they learned that Glenn Tipton would be unable to tour due to his battle with Parkinson's Disease.

"Equally (K.K. Downing) had made the decision to retire, I don't know how many years ago that it was," Halford told the Los Angeles Daily News. "At the time he was emphatic about retiring and never coming back, and that's what we were left with.

"There has been no communication since that time. There has been no inquiries about how the band is doing since that time, or how the guys are doing, or anything of that nature."

Halford then added, "What upset me personally was the inference that Glenn didn't play on this record. I took that quite strongly. How would you feel if those types of insinuations had been placed in a statement along with the not being asked to come back? Just extraordinary. The wording should have been different in my point of view. Like I said on a radio interview, we have never been a band to publicly bring these things to the surface."

Five Finger Death Punch Stream New Song 'Sham Pain'

Five Finger Death Punch are giving fans another taste of their forthcoming album with the release of the latest song from the effort called "Sham Pain."

The new song follows the previously released track "Fake" from the upcoming seventh studio album, which will be entitled "And Justice For None" and is set to be released on May 18th.

Guitarist Zoltan Bathory had the following to say about the new track, "'Sham Pain' is a lyrical snapshot of probably the biggest, yet most chaotic year of this band's career.

"Everyone has a different way of dealing with the moments when life hands them lemonssome complain and some make lemonade. Us, we pour gasoline on it and then hit it with a rocket launcher. Sarcasm has always been our 'Art of War' (if from naming the band 'Five Finger Death Punch' you haven't figured it out yet), but just wait until you see the video we made for this song." Devin Townsend Launching ERAS Series

Devin Townsend has announced he will be launching a series of high quality vinyl collections under the name of 'ERAS' beginning with the June 8th release of a quadrilogy of albums that came out during the period of 2009-2011 when the Devin Townsend Project was first created.

The boxset comes with 7LP's and includes the albums KI, Addicted, Deconstruction and Ghost, marking the first time that the latter two have ever been available on vinyl, while the former have been long out of print. All albums come in gatefold sleeves on 180g vinyl, and have been specially remastered for the format to guarantee the best possible sound and listening experience. The sturdy 2-piece box also includes an LP-booklet that features complete lyrics, liner notes and comments from Devin, and is limited to 2000 copies worldwide. There will be a total of 4 boxsets released over the course of the next few months.

Devin comments: "The Devin Townsend Project, although it went further than I had originally planned, began life as these four albums. Ki, Addicted, Deconstruction and Ghost. The music evolved in line with a period of intense personal growth, and the albums in chronological order were meant to illustrate that change. The amount of people involved with this was extensive, and the journey was one that defined my career in ways I cannot over express. These four albums are really what the Devin Townsend Project was about.

I have been asked repeatedly over the last few years to provide these albums on vinyl, in one set. So we took this opportunity to put together 'ERAS', which is the definitive vinyl box-set encapsulating this period of my life and work that I am exceptionally proud of. As always, this wouldn't have come to fruition without the support of the tremendous audience who has allowed it to flourish, so respect to both yourselves, the people involved, and the music itself, we present to you; 'ERAS'. Thank you for allowing me to continue to do what I do." Preorder your copy, including various colored vinyl versions,
