The Rolling Stones' Ron Wood Reveals Cancer News

(hennemusic) Ronnie Wood is sharing an update on his cancer status ahead of a summer European tour with The Rolling Stones. Doctors discovered a small cancerous lesion on the guitarist's left lung during a routine physical last spring, which was soon removed via surgery. Now, the 70-year-old rocker reveals that he is cancer-free.

"I had three months of check-ups and it was all clear, and they said go and enjoy life," Wood tells Metro. "I don't want to lose my hair. If your body is riddled with cancer, it's a losing cause. Luckily, all mine was contained within the left lung and I was fortunate enough to get shot of it, bang. There was none in the rest of my body so I didn't require chemo."

Wood maintains he has no regrets about his lifestyle choices through the years.
"No, not even smoking for England for over 50 years," he explains. "It was a wonder I wasn't riddled with cancer in both lungs. It's a wonder they both didn't explode."

Asked if he had any messages for those who have been diagnosed with cancer, Wood adds, "Just be strong and remain positive. I was prepared to remain positive to my dying breath. I've had a great life and I was all ready to go. Wow! I didn't know I was going to be given the ticket to last this long. What a reprieve." Read more

Screamin' Jay Hawkins 'Are YOU One of Jay's Kids?' Announced

(Conqueroo) The '90s musical legacy of rock 'n' roll wild man Screamin' Jay Hawkins will be comprehensively reconsidered on a totally untethered two-CD compilation, Are YOU One of Jay's Kids?, due from Bizarre Records on May 18, 2017.

The set collates all 44 of the raving songs recorded by the late, legendary vocalist by producer and Bizarre partner and A&R man Robert Duffey, who also acted as Hawkins' manager during the period. The numbers first heard on Hawkins' original Bizarre albums - Black Music for White People (1991), Stone Crazy (1993), and Somethin' Funny Goin' On (1994) - are augmented by five previously unreleased bonus tracks. The set includes new liner notes by music journalist Chris Morris.

Sins In Vain Release Video For Killswitch Engage Cover

Sins In Vain have thanks the band Killswitch Engage for their inspiration by recording a cover version of the band's track "The End Of Heartache" and releasing a video for the song.

The group had this to say, ""Sins In Vain's cover of 'The End of Heartache' is a big 'thank you' to Killswitch Engage for all the inspiration over the years. The original is already a metal classic about the pain of being apart from someone you love. Something most people can relate to, unfortunately.

"We've worked hard to convey the feelings of love and sorrow in this song. The outcome is a balance between respect for the original and our own interpretation and sound. Our delivery is a bit softer, but definitely still powerful.

"The End of Heartache is truly close to our hearts, and we hope everyone who will hear our version of it will grasp how much emotion has gone into this. Much Love, Sins In Vain" Watch the video here.

MXMS Release 'The Run' Video

(TYFPR) MXMS has shared the video for their new track entitled "The Run" online. When talking about the track the group says, "The Run" focuses on living in solitude with your demons or vices, embracing them and celebrating them. The stigma for those who are troubled is that most are "running" from obstacles and struggles..for us we run directly into the fire, facing it head on."

MXMS, short for "me and my shadow", is the dark electronic project of singer Ariel Levan and pianist Jeremy Dawson. Self-described as "Funeral pop," the duo injects music culture with the conjugality of death positivity, darkness and honesty.

The two met in Los Angeles after Ariel moved from New York City in late 2013. What was to be a short writing session instantly blossomed into something poignant and lasting, as their personal stories meshed into song over the coming weeks and months. The pair moved through the discovery that expelling love, death, pain, and fear into art instantly brought relief not only to their personal lives, but also became refuge for others navigating the broken state of our world and its current affairs.

In January 2015, MXMS signed with boutique indie label Grand Jury records. The first 2 MXMS singles, "OMG" and "RX" were released at the end of May 2015, followed by a third "ANNA" in the fall, all driven by spot-on review and features by the likes of Earmilk, Filter, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound and many others. After spending most of 2016 touring, Jeremy and Ariel returned to the studio to finish the writing and recording of their new record.

In May 2017, MXMS released the first of the new songs, "I REVENGE" on We Are: The Guard/Kobalt; a current issue memoir of the irrational feelings of heartbreak in a tumultuous broken relationship. The band is currently playing festivals across America, including Ac3 in Atlanta, Cloak and Dagger festival in Los Angeles. Singles and their debut EP are slated for release in early 2018. here.

Julian Casablancas And The Voidz Rock Late Night TV

(Radio.com) Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas and his band The Voidz appeared on The Late Late Show last night to perform their moody single "Qyurryus." The song appears on the band's second album Virtue.

The new track couldn't be further from the infectious pop-rock lead single "Leave It In My Dreams." The Voidz' performance leaned into the song's grungy, hallucinogenic aesthetic:

They played under mustardy lights in a relatively unadorned garage space. Virtue is set for release this Friday. Watch The Voidz live performance from The Late Late Show here.
