Jerry Cantrell's new song, "Afterglow" arrives with a video created by award-winning artist Matt Mahurin, whose work is noted for blending realism with abstract and surreal elements, which shines through in the five-minute piece. "The incredible Matt Mahurin and I created a moving piece of film to accompany the song," Cantrell says, adding "Check it out. If you want blood, you got it."
"Two of my all-time favorite videos I've directed are 'No Excuses' and 'Angry Chair' for Alice In Chains in the early 1990's. To be able to once again offer my visual work to Jerry's 'Afterglow' some thirty years later was a blast. From opera aria to pop tune, everybody sees a movie playing in their mind's eye when they listen to a song. Jerry inspired a welcome fever dream that I was grateful to lure out of my mind's eye," Mahurin shares. Mahurin's work has been featured in The New York Times, Time, Rolling Stone, and his photographs are on permanent display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. (continue)
Neal Morse has often been a musical collaborator, usually with some of the greatest prog musicians across the world. This time, Morse has brought that collaborative spirit closer to home. The new album by Neal Morse & The Resonance - entitled 'No Hill For A Climber' will be released 8th November 2024, and the title is taken from a resonant line in Barbara Kingsolver's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Demon Copperhead.
It has its roots at the end of 2023, as Morse explains: "I started thinking about what I was going to do in 2024, and my wife suggested that I should think about doing something with the amazingly talented younger guys that we have here locally - like Chris Riley, Andre Madatian and Philip Martin. I knew just how good they were from playing with them at our Christmas concerts and other events." (continue)
Thirty two years is a long time in anyone's book. Way too long according to Sodom fans worldwide. But if you ask Tom Angelripper and Andy Brings, those 32 years since the original release of Sodom's sixth album "Tapping The Vein" went by in the blink of an eye. "At the time it was just another album for us", says only original bandmember Tom Angelripper, but the Sodomaniacs all over the world made it a cult classic. It's just sad that Chris Witchhunter is not here anymore to celebrate with us." Guitar player Andy Brings, who was 20 years old and still in school when the joined the band in 1991, who wrote and recorded his first ever album with Sodom adds: "Bands don't determine what becomes a cult, the fans do. It just happened, and we are very proud of it. 18-year-olds come up to me these days and tell me how much they love that album." (continue)

Staytus just released her brand new single "Can You Hear Me?", and to celebrate we asked her to tell us about the track, which was produced by the legendary Sean Beavan, known for his work with Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie. Here is the story:
When the lyrics for my new single "Can You Hear Me?" just poured out of me in one intense session, I knew I had tapped into something raw and powerful. Before even stepping into the studio with producer Sean Beavan, I had the core of the song - the words that delve into the struggle with inner demons and the desperate need for connection in an often isolating world. To match the intensity of the lyrics, I created the instrumental stems using unconventional effects and textures, utilizing tools like Izotope Trash 2, Native Instruments Reaktor Twisted Tools, and Battery 4 to craft the glitchy, industrial-tinged soundscape.
