UK progressive rockers Frost* recently announced the release of their brand new double concept album 'Life In The Wires', due out October 18th, 2024 via InsideOutMusic. "Every prog band worth their salt really should do a double album, shouldn't they?" asks Frost* frontman Jem Godfrey. "We've always kind of had this idea of wanting to do one. So I sat down last summer and thought, well, I'm just gonna have to get my head down and go for it."
Today sees the launch of the track 'Moral & Consequence', a song that appears later in the story. Jem Godfrey comments: "Moral and Consequence is a song of two halves, you'll never guess what each section is called... In 2008, on our 2nd album "Experiments In Mass Appeal", I sang - "The ideal and the innocence, the moral and the consequence. Core desire, it's a real Livewire, setting my life on fire, oh it's unreal." It's not a sequel to the song from 2008, but at the same time it is. It's a bit complicated, all will be revealed on the new album." (continue)

(hennemusic) Metallica is streaming video of a performance of its 1991 classic, "Through The Never", from an August 23 show in Edmonton, AB. The first of two events at the city's Commonwealth Stadium - as part of a recently-completed run of North American dates on the group's M72 World Tour - featured the track from the band's self-titled record, aka The Black Album; the project delivered Metallica's commercial breakthrough upon its original release as their first to top the US charts while going on to sell 16 million copies in the country and more than 31 million worldwide.
Metallica also titled their 2013 film, "Through The Never"; the project told the story of a band crew member named Trip (played by Dane DeHaan) who is sent out on a mission during the group's live set in front of a sold-out arena: to meet a disabled truck and retrieve a particular item. However, the routine task turns into a surreal odyssey when Trip's van is hit by another vehicle, and he subsequently finds himself up against a death-dealing horseman. As Trip flees through desolate streets, he has only his wits to help him avoid the deadly horseman and deliver Metallica's cargo. (continue)

Hillhaven are pleased to share their fifth single "Liar." It's brutal but built on a note of hope. It follows the buzzy prior singles "Damned to Dream," "The God You Think You Are," "Gaps," and "Sycophants."
"Musically and lyrically, this song ventures into some darker territory," says singer Chris Kelly. "I think we all tend to try and ignore certain parts of ourselves or of those we love. Stuff that scares us - stuff we're ashamed of. Our strongest instinct is self-preservation and egos don't take kindly to things that might break them. They fight back - hard - but oftentimes that fear or shame finally breaks through and we're suddenly forced to look at ourselves and quite literally FACE that darkness. That's when we're at our lowest. This track was born from the bottom, and from the climb back into the light, where we find our motivation again." (continue)

Chicago's Red Spot Rhythm Section recently released their latest album "Twilight", and to celebrate we asked band leader Josh Siegal to tell us about the song "Look Up". Here is the story:
"Look Up" was originally written for an Afro-funk band called The Opposition Party that played around Chicago in the 2010s. I played keys in that band, did the horn arrangements, and wrote the tunes. This song was one of the last I wrote for that band before it broke up in 2016 and we were only able to perform it a handful of times. (continue)
