Sessanta, the sold-out tour that brought Puscifer, Primus and A Perfect Circle together - not only sharing the stage but also swapping musicians throughout an unforgettable evening celebrating Maynard James Keenan's 60th birthday - returns for a six-week U.S. trek in Spring 2025.
"The Sessanta run was by far the most fun and delicious extended birthday party I've ever had thanks to all of the attendees and the master musicianship of Primus, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. No comparison," Keenan shares. "Decided we need to share this with people who missed the first round in places we couldn't get to. Strap in." (continue)
Rumored to be finished, Subway To Sally, the German grandmasters of folk metal, prove they are very much alive with their 15th studio album! 'Post Mortem,' set for release on December 20, 2024, via Napalm Records, arrives not even two years after their 2023 predecessor, 'Himmelfahrt,' was secretly intended to be the final album of their over 30-year career.
In hindsight, this explains the symbolic title. However, things turned out differently. Subway To Sally had clearly struck a chord with their music, as fan and critic reactions to 'Himmelfahrt' were overwhelmingly positive. Following a nearly sold-out tour, it became clear that the 14th album was not the final chapter. The release of 'Himmelfahrt' unleashed an untamable lightness and energy that ignited their creativity so strongly that SUBWAY TO SALLY now stand ready to unveil their brand-new masterpiece, Post Mortem, created in the fastest production process in the band's history. Spartan Records and Chris Simpson are excited to announce the surprise release of Dream Homes, the Texas-based indie-rock veteran's brand new, nine-song full-length album under his celebrated Mountain Time moniker. In the loving hands of long-time creative collaborators and first time co-producers Seth Woods (of The Whiskey Priest and Casita Records) and Alex Dupree - both accomplished artists and songwriters in their own right - the meticulous level of care and craft found here on Dream Homes is compelling, and the invitation to communion feels warm and ecstatic.
Imbuing, string-soaked '70s balladry and soaring ambient rock with an at times jazz-like freneticism, Dream Homes is a joyous romp through the kaleidoscopic vision of Simpson's mind and pen, his unmistakable croon more confident and focused than ever, leading the listener through a vast menagerie of dream-time landscapes. Resembling little more than himself at this point, the album is a tip of the hat to longest-standing muses The Innocence Mission or something like the chaotic glory of Big Star's Third. (continue)

The 45th anniversary of Cheap Trick's "Dream Police" album is being celebrated by the syndicated radio show In The Studio With Redbeard: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands.
Redbeard shared this synopsis for the episode: You may know the basic facts of Cheap Trick's February 1979 live album At Budokan, which effectively started the Rockford quartet on a long road which now travels through the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But unless you actually lived through it, there is no way to imagine what such a fluke phenomenon does to the individual heads of the band members, manager, and record label execs when it's time to follow up, as in the case of September 1979's The Dream Police. Obviously, the explosive success of At Budokan built tremendous momentum, inspired confidence, and triggered commitment on the part of their patient record company, but sudden runaway popularity invariably sets the expectations bar unrealistically high for everything to follow. Slummy just released the new song "Size Queens". Slummy was created based on a fictional character in Joshua Mohr's forthcoming novel "Saint The Terrifying" and is the first single off the forthcoming record "The Wrong Side," which was produced by Josh Evans (Pearl Jam). To celebrate we asked Joshua to tell us about the song.
Here is the story: What if Johnny Rotten had a baby with The Rock? That's the question that helped me create the main character for my new novel, "Saint the Terrifying." In the book, Saint sings in a band, and I wrote the record from his perspective. Our first single "Size Queens" is his song, not mine. (continue)
