We Are Scientists return with news of their highly-anticipated ninth studio album Qualifying Miles via Groenland Records. Nearing twenty years on from their commercial breakthrough, the NYC band - comprising founding members Keith Murray and Chris Cain - are still constantly reinventing themselves. But with this new record comes a return to the music that shaped their childhoods, with echoes of '90s guitar music threading throughout the project. With their trademark danceable, razor-sharp hooks and witty lyricism, Qualifying Miles is the sound of a band revisiting their roots while interrogating the distance they have traveled.
Alongside the album announcement, the band are sharing lead single, "Please Don't Say It." With its anthemic, infectious hook and a splash of melodrama, it captures the wry charm and emotional punch that have long defined the band's enduring appeal. (continue)
Hollywood Undead unleash a brand new take on their hit single "Hollywood Forever" today with an electrifying remix from founding member Funny Man featuring Lefty Gunplay and N8NOFACE with an accompanying video created by LA based artist and animator MikeMeds.
The "Hollywood Forever (Funny Man Remix)" is a gritty, genre-blending rework of the fan-favorite anthem-an unmistakable tribute to Los Angeles, the city firmly rooted in the DNA of all three artists. The track seamlessly blends explosive rap verses that trade off between Funny Man's laid-back swagger, Lefty Gunplay's raw charisma, and N8NOFACE's signature punk-meets-rap delivery, building in intensity before culminating in the original track's epic chorus. "Instant paints a picture of struggle. Struggle with nature, with bodies, with instruments..." Sam Dovrin, lead singer of Boston-based experimental avant-shoegaze rock band Jimrat, explains of their epic 11-track visual album, Instant, out now.
"The desolation of winter, the mystery of the woods, the desire of the figures we see amongst the trees." Instant's visual component tells the story of a man walking into these woods where a cult is performing a ritual, and he gets seduced into joining. The album deals with conflict, push and pull- the dance duet to the track "Come Around" emphasizes the tension between wanting to chase and be chased, of wanting to run away, but also wanting to come in closer. "We want to know more, we want to desire, but we are afraid of the consequences of being vulnerable," Sam concludes. (continue)
For the first time in twenty years, Anthrax will share a stage with Black Sabbath when the band performs at Sabbath's "Back to The Beginning" concert set to take place on Saturday, July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. Anthrax toured with Black Sabbath on the band's 1986 "Seventh Star Tour," which was also Anthrax's first arena tour. The last time they were on the same bill as Sabbath was in 2005 at the Download Festival in the UK.
"I'm a huge Black Sabbath fan," said Charlie Benante, "and Black Sabbath was so, so instrumental in the sound of Anthrax back in the day. Back in '86, when we were working on our third album, we wanted to do a B-side of a Black Sabbath song. 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' was the song that we chose. We did it as a B-side, we played it live, and it became a big thing for us. Growing up Catholic, in a Catholic household, my mom did not appreciate Black Sabbath. One day when I came home, my sister took me to the record store and I got one of those iron-on Black Sabbath t-shirts, it was the cover of 'Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath.' I got it home, my mother saw it, she made my sister take me back to the store and return it. She would not have it in the house because it had the '666' on it. I was still a Black Sabbath fan so I had to kind of keep it hidden from my mom." (continue)

Alt-rocker Peter Landi recently released his brand new single "Turn Back Now", and to celebrate we asked him to tell us the story behind the song. Here is the story:
I wrote "Turn Back Now" in March of 2021. My partner and I had just moved into our new place after being away from Toronto for almost a year. Our belongings and all of my instruments had been in storage during that time, so we were psyched to get the boxes open and see our things again. (continue)
