Metallica are gearing up for the special anniversary editions of their "Load" album and are priming fans by sharing a 1995 live performance of the track "2 x 4" that was captured at the Astoria 2 in London.

They shared via social media, "August 23, 1995: A little over four years after the release of The Black Album, a small crowd at the Astoria 2 in London was the first to hear 'new'" Metallica music. Led by James' Ulta-Mullet, we launched into '2 x 4,' a greasy groove about a piece of wood." (continue)

Kings of Thrash, the acclaimed union of Megadeth alumni David Ellefson (bass) and Jeff Young (guitar), plus Chaz Leon (vocals, guitar) and Dead Groove/BulletBoys drummer Fred Aching, with special guest (and fellow ex-Megadeth-er) Chris Poland, return to the fray with a stunning new single, and a dramatic shift in attitude, too.

The band, after all, is most renowned as the sonic spark that detonated one of the recent past's most incendiary live albums, the mighty The Mega Years reinvention of Megadeth's first and three studio LPs, Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good (1985) and So Far, So Good...So What? (1988), plus highlights from the intervening Peace Sells...But Who's Buying! (1986). The albums, in other words, upon which the entire thrash metal genre was built and defined in the first place (continue)

Multi-platinum hard rock powerhouse Five Finger Death Punch are celebrating their 20th anniversary with the release of "Best Of - Volume 1", a collection of re-recorded versions of their most iconic chart-topping songs. This move comes in response to the recent sale of the band's original master recordings by their former label, an action made without their knowledge or the opportunity to reclaim their own work.

Founding guitarist Zoltan Bathory says: "We would have loved to have a shot at reclaiming our masters, or at least to be involved in the transaction but we found out after the fact. Surprised, but not surprised. These kinds of behind closed doors deals have become far too common in the music industry. (continue)

Pop Evil deliver a surprise cover of Simple Minds' classic '80s hit "Don't You (Forget About Me)." The track is reimagined through a minimalist lens from their "unleaded" performance at their album release event with SiriusXM Octane. This marks the first time that Pop Evil has ever commercially released a cover song in their career.

"There is such a special story connected to this piece for so many people worldwide," reflects singer Leigh Kakaty. "What started off meaningful as one thing, when they were young, now holds a much deeper weight. It's tied to an entire lifetime of choices, experiences, and moments. We are shining a light on a new way of discovering these lyrics and asking the deepest of questions. A question we all ask: "Will we be remembered?" (continue)

Continuing their meteoric return, Linkin Park present the Deluxe Edition of their acclaimed album FROM ZERO, out now on Warner Records. The band notably extended and expanded the original chart-topping record with three brand new tracks, including the latest "Let You Fade."

Capping off this body of work, the cathartic closer doubles as an emotional highpoint boosted by the interplay between Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong over the ebb-and-flow of the song's heavy intro and hushed bridge. "'Let You Fade' is a favorite among the band members and our friends," said Armstrong. "It's got a deep emotional side but still a ton of energy, and we can't wait to add it to the setlist for the summer." (continue)

Genre-blending duo Magenta Moon recently released their new single "Pick Up", and to celebrate we asked Elaina Whitesell and Joey Petrarca to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

Elaina: Ten years ago, I fell asleep drunk on a double-decker bus and rode an hour past my stop. When I woke up and got off, I heard some Brits talking sh*t, and I was stranded on the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere, praying a bus would come back the other way. I knew the cellular bill would be steep, but I turned my data on and called Joey. Despite the time and continental divide, he picked up, and suddenly the whole situation seemed really funny. Then a bus came and brought me back to my flat. We wrote this song imagining the events from ten years ago as if they were happening now. It turned into an upbeat, synth-heavy goth cabaret track that captures the deep yearning through time and space. (continue)
