Murder By Death are proud to announce the release of Egg & Dart, the celebrated indie-rock band's 10th and final album. Out today, Egg & Dart presents generous moments of triumph, desolation, horror and joy, all while exploring the challenges of letting go and moving onto the next phase.
A reference to an architectural motif popular since Greek and Roman times - often used in columns and still seen today in furniture, trim and molding - the title represents the duality of life (the egg) and death (the arrow). Once you know about it, you see it everywhere. And it seems fitting for an album of songs about turning the page. (continue)

Detroit rockers The Messenger Birds released their brand new EP, "GRAMMY AWARD WINNING ALBUM IT'S ALL A BLUR" today (June 13th), and to celebrate we asked guitarist/vocalist Parker Bengry to tell us about the effort. Here is the story:
'GRAMMY AWARD WINNING ALBUM IT'S ALL A BLUR' is either the boldest or dumbest statement we've made so far. At best, that's hopefully a reflection of the core messages of the EP, but at the end of the day, that's not really for me to say. We've never been a band that goes into the writing process with a clear idea of what we are trying to achieve. We write in fragments and piece them together as we go along, and sometimes the themes are immediately stark; others we don't fully realize until after the whole thing is done. Most of the songs aren't objectively about one thing--but if you can sift your way through all my scattered thoughts, disjointed narratives, and sardonic jokes, maybe there's something in there that makes some sense. Ft. Worth, Texas-based folk singer-songwriter-guitarist Jack Barksdale just released his new album "Voices", and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the track "Song Of The Artist'. Here is the story:
I wrote "Song of the Artist" in September of 2024. I began with the guitar part, the vocal melody, and some filler lyrics, which is not at all how I usually start songs, but I wanted to try to break out of my usual process and try something new. The month before that, I hadn't written much, and what I had written wasn't very good, so I decided I was going to do a kind of mental detox. I gathered up all the books that I had been planning to read but hadn't even started. I laid them all out on the floor and picked out one or two. (continue)
