Major League is back. The NJ-based rock band - formed in 2009 - has reunited for the first time since 2016 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut album The Truth Is... with the record's first ever vinyl pressing.
"There was never a single defining moment where any one of us at any point thought 'this is the time'. To be honest, I don't know that we ever thought there would be a Major League again," explains guitarist Brian Joyce. "We spent 12 years not speaking a word. But when you've spent your formative years as kids creating something together in the corner of a basement that brought you around the world, the second we entered a room together again that chemistry picked up right where we left off." Danko Jones have announced that they will be releasing their new studio album, "Leo Rising," which was produced by long‑time collaborator Eric Ratz, on November 21st. C Squared Music sent over the following details:
Following the rabid reception to opening salvo "What You Need" and party‑starting anthem "Everyday Is Saturday Night", Leo Rising turns the dial past eleven with razor‑sharp riffs, thunderous rhythms and fist‑pumping hooks. Guitar legend Marty Friedman (Megadeth, Cacophony) makes a blistering guest appearance on future single "Diamond in the Rough," while other stand‑outs - from the priapic swagger of "Hot Fox" to the roof‑rattling "It's a Celebration" - prove Danko Jones are keeping rock alive by doing it better than anyone else. We Are Scientists today share "What You Want Is Gone," the third single from their upcoming album Qualifying Miles, out July 18 via Groenland Records. The band has also announced today that their album release show will be at Brooklyn's Union Pool (484 Union Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211) on July 30th.
Built around a melancholic and cascading lead guitar riff that loops and evolves, the track moves between soft restraint and big climaxes. There's a nod to 2000s indie ballads while singer and guitarist Keith Murray's vocals are direct and open, carrying a sense of hope and regret in the track's repeating lyric: "You can't just wait around for what you want / if what you want is gone." The 11-track collection is previewed today by new tracks and videos: "Stupid Questions" & "Hates Me Yet (222)."
"Both 'Stupid Questions' and 'Hates Me Yet (222)' came from a similar headspace - that spiral you slip into when you care a little too much and think a little too hard," explains Jeffrey Jordan. "We wanted these songs and their visuals to capture the way overthinking can feel both ridiculous and heavy at the same time.. two sides to the same door, except one's a smirk and the other's a blow to the chest." Indie artist goodheart just released the new single and accompanying music video entitled "Stuck in a Cloud", and to celebrate we asked her to tell us about the track. Here is the story:
I wrote "Stuck in a Cloud" on a day (actually it was more like a week) when I'd been home alone a little too long. It was one of those stretches where time loses its meaning and you don't quite feel sad, more like 'meh', and you also haven't put on pants with buttons in a while, you know? I was meant to be working on another song but kept hitting a wall, so I took a detour and made this one up instead. Ironically, it came together pretty fast. (continue)
