Last Thursday Gibb was rushed to the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami where he underwent emergency abdominal surgery.
Gibb reportedly collapsed at his Miami home Wednesday with severe stomach pains and was rushed to the hospital. He underwent emergency surgery on Thursday and doctors discovered that he has some intestinal blockage. Prior to going into surgery Gibb reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.
Doctors reportedly removed half of Gibb's stomach and most of his intestines during the emergency surgery. Following the surgery he was reported to be in critical but stable condition up until the time of his death early Sunday morning.
Gibbs brother Barry is suspicious about the treatment Maurice received at the hospital and questions if his death was a result of the surgery. "The fact that they had to operate on Maurice during the shock of cardiac arrest, is very questionable, and we will pursue every factor, every element, every second of the timeline of the final hours of Maurice's life," Barry Gibb told the BBC on Sunday.
"We will pursue that relentlessly. That will be our quest from now on," he said.
