There is good news for fans of the classic vocal harmony centered rock, the Everlys will be joining the reunited Simon and Garfunkel for the entire Old Friends tour, which will run until Dec. 21 where the final stop is set in Tampa, Fl.
The Everlys were called up to the stage midway through Thursday nights sold out show at Wachovia Arena in Wilkes Barre, Pa. They performed three of their signature songs, "Wake Up Little Susie," "Dream" and "Let it Be Me", and were then joined on stage by Art and Paul who joined them for the most well known Everly hit "Bye Bye Love."
"Art and I learned to sing as a duo by listening to Everly Brothers records and practicing their harmonies," Simon said Friday on the discussion to add them to the tour. "We're both great fans of their singing and guitar playing."
The Everly Brothers seem the perfect complement to Simon and Garfunkels music.
"When it comes to the magnificent sound of Don and Phil, I'm just a wannabe," Art Garfunkel said.
Simon and Garfunkle also brought the hits
on their tour opener. For their first tour together in over 20 years, they
performed some of their classics including Mrs. Robinson, Homeward Bound
and of course Bridge Over Troubled Water.
