"Inside the establishment there was a squabble concerning, I guess, the selection of music," Nashville police Sgt. James Smith told reporters. "Again there are no major injuries but an assault did take place."
Jerry Campos, a DJ at Christy's Cabaret in Nashville filed the complaint against Rock. Campos said that Rock hit him in the eye and that the incident was recorded by a security camera at the club. Police reported located Rock a short time later at the apartment of a friend. The singer reportedly told reporters that he fled the club after the incident in hopes of having time to sober up before being arrested.
Rock was charged with misdemeanor assault and bond was set at $3,000. Rock reportedly had left Nashville for his home in Detroit and is scheduled to return on March 30th for a court appearance. If convicted Rock faces up to a year in jail.
Rock was in Nashville attending the funeral of country music songwriter Merle Kilgore. He performed at the funeral ceremony on Tuesday.
