(CBS) Musical superstars Sheryl Crow, Foo Fighters, Shooter Jennings & Jessi Colter, Norah Jones, Kid Rock, Alison Krauss, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, U2 and Dwight Yoakam will perform on I WALK THE LINE: A NIGHT FOR JOHNNY CASH, a new entertainment special honoring country music legend Johnny Cash to be taped at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood and broadcast Wednesday, Nov. 16 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon and Dennis Quaid are among the stars who will introduce the performances.

Cash will be celebrated in concert by artists who have been profoundly influenced by his unique style and songs. His music, including "I Walk the Line," "Sunday Morning Coming Down," the Johnny Cash/June Carter duet "Jackson," "I Still Miss Someone," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Guess Things Happen That Way" and "Home of the Blues" will be performed. Video clips of Cash's career and life will also be seen and interspersed with clips from the upcoming feature film about his life, "Walk the Line," starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon and directed by James Mangold, which will be released on November 18.

Johnny Cash was born in Kingsland, Ark. in 1932. He made his first single, "Hey Porter," in 1955. Known as The Man in Black, which was also the title of his 1975 biography, Cash recorded more than 1,500 songs. He won 11 Grammy Awards, including the 1999 Lifetime Achievement Award and the Best Country Album award in 2002. He was inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock Music Hall of Fame, and was the only person to have both honors until 1998 when Elvis Presley was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He made successful recordings as a solo artist, as part of a duet, as the leader of a trio and as part of the award-winning Highwaymen quartet. He married June Carter Cash in 1968.

I WALK THE LINE: A NIGHT FOR JOHNNY CASH will be produced by Ken Ehrlich Productions, in association AEG Live. Ken Ehrlich ("The 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards") and Randy Phillips ("Genius: A Night for Ray Charles") are the executive producers; Tisha Fein ("The 47th Annual Grammy Awards") and David Wild are the co-producers.
