The concert was organized to help the student body and faculty start the school year on a positive note according to an AP report. The artists have volunteered their time for the event which will take place at the school's Lane Stadium on September 6th and will be funded by corporate sponsorships and sales of concert merchandise.
The general public at this point has not been invited to the event but students, university staff and faculty will be offered free tickets. "We have a profound respect for the incredible resolve and unwavering sense of hope the university community has shown, and are honored to have the opportunity to share this evening with Virginia Tech," said Carter Beauford, drummer for Dave Matthews Band, in a statement.
