Known to underground hip-hop fans as Declaime, Dudley is the only man slated to take the stage; the festival is a live music and visual arts showcase charged with giving female independent hip-hop artists a platform to speak their minds, be seen, and be heard.
G&D will be headlining the opening event "Beauty and the Beat:" D.C.�s first ever "lady beat maker" competition. The event will also feature visual art and DJ Earth1ne on the decks and will take place on August 8th at 8:30PM (doors at 7) at the Rock & Roll Hotel in D.C.
Joining G&D at the festival are a collection of talented female emcees and vocalists, including legends such as MC Lyte and Bahamadia. Can A Sista Rock A Mic? is affiliated with B-Girl Manifesto, an organization dedicated to celebrating women in independent arts. The festival will take place from August 7th through the 12th and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the DCTV Youth Video Festival.
