Major label newcomer Mims is up in arms with Kanye West, accusing the egomaniac rapper of stealing his hip-hop sound which is basically stealing real musician's old work, speeding it up, turning on a drum machine and talking sh*t over it. But Mims claims he stole soul samples and speeded them up long before Kanye made major cash by stealing soul samples and speeded them up and talking nonsense over them.
Mims claims that he introduced this formula with his debut album. "I recorded my album five years ago so I did it first," the indignant rapper said according to Contact Music. Of course, it wouldn't take very much imagination to come up with that concept on your own but in another bit of irony Entertainment Weekly said of his debut album that Mim's "style recalls Jay-Z's mid-'90s blinged-out phase". So does that mean that Kanye really ripped off Jay-Z?
