James Last Live DVD

(PR) Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned EV Classics subsidiary, will release Live In Dublin on July 24 by James Last on DVD [60 minutes, 12 tracks, retail price]. Last, the German composer/bandleader, over the course of a 40-year career, has over 200 albums to his credit, and has sold an astonishing 100 million records worldwide. Live In Berlin was filmed in its entirety at Germany’s prestigious Waldbuhne in 1982 in front of an especially appreciative crowd.

Primarily known for adopting popular pieces of music to his universal style of orchestration, he is an energetic bandleader who prods his musicians on to great heights of virtuosity with his extremely physical and dramatic stance at the baton.

Last, 78, shows no signs of slowing down. From his 1965 debut album, Non-Stop Dancing, on through his work with samba vocalist Astrud Gilberto, his successful ‘70s television programs in his home country paved the way for the success of ABBA and other Euro pop stars. When Hollywood came calling, he was up to the task, penning “The Seduction” for American Gigolo (1980) and many others up to “The Lonely Shepherd” for Kill Bill (2003).
