Court Helps Kill Net Radio

(CMJ) The US District Court of Appeals has denied an emergency stay petitioned by webcasters, according to SaveNetRadio, forcing the coalition to reach out to the public to contact Congress to support the Internet Radio Equality Act.

In hopes to delay the upcoming July 15 royalty payments increase set by the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) and enforced by SoundExchange, spokesperson Jake Ward considers the denial "a setback" but "not the end of the road."

"Webcasters aren't going to simply give up the music they love without a fight," he said in a statement. "We will fight against this unreasonable rate increase until a solution is reached." - more on this story
