(antiMusic) U2 singer Bono has been awarded with the 'Man of Peace' prize by the Nobel peace laureates for helping to tackle African debt, poverty and disease. "This is a very big award for me, because let's be honest this is as close as I am going to get, as close as a rock star is ever going to get to the Nobel Peace Prize," Bono said.

Metallica is rumored to be headlining massive new rock festival at Knebworth, United Kingdom in July. The event, if confirmed, would provide competition to the Download festival, which takes place June 12-14 at Donington. more

Pin-up model, fashion staple and counter-cultural icon, Bettie Page, passed away last week at the age of 85. Bettie had been hospitalized for three weeks with pneumonia and suffered a heart attack last week from which she did not regain consciousness. Rising to fame in a 1955 issue of Playboy, she became vastly influential in fashion - particularly punk rock - as well as both the champion and bane of feminists for her unapologetic sexuality. more

The Animals' frontman Eric Burdon has lost litigation against one of his former bandmates, drummer John Steel, over exclusive ownership of the band's name. The legal tussle began in 2005 when Burdon, who now lives in Joshua Tree, California, filed a 'notice of opposition' to Steel's application a year earlier to register The Animals as his UK trademark. more

Bullet For My Valentine had to cancel the last two shows on their current European tour. They have been touring virtually non-stop since February 2008, and after the show in Tampere the band started to develop flu and cold symptoms, which had been circulating among the road crew.more
