Bettie had been hospitalized for three weeks with pneumonia and suffered a heart attack last week from which she did not regain consciousness. Rising to fame in a 1955 issue of Playboy, she became vastly influential in fashion - particularly punk rock - as well as both the champion and bane of feminists for her unapologetic sexuality. more

The Animals' frontman Eric Burdon has lost litigation against one of his former bandmates, drummer John Steel, over exclusive ownership of the band's name. The legal tussle began in 2005 when Burdon, who now lives in Joshua Tree, California, filed a 'notice of opposition' to Steel's application a year earlier to register The Animals as his UK trademark. more
