(Submitted News) Along with the release of successful screenwriter Jessica Bendinger's (Bring It On, Stick It, Aquamarine) new book The Seven Rays, comes the first original soundtrack for a novel. In addition to enjoying the novel, book and music lovers can use the soundtrack to set the tone and mood during the story.

Jessica Bendinger combines her past filmmaking experience to give readers the a more complete sense of setting while actually reading the book. The songs featured on the soundtrack were hand selected by Bendinger to be paired with specific scenes in novel. Each song has a precise page number and section where readers may cue the song to enhance the overall experience. With both signed and unsigned artists, this unique collection cannot be found anywhere else. Bendinger explains, "The soundtrack is really an eclectic blend. I wanted to curate a line-up of known and unknown female artists. It's such a cool group of songs."

It includes thirteen diverse songs from artists such as Sofi Bonde, Krista, and Kate Earl. Well-known artists Lucy Woodward, a Billboard Artist of the Year in 2008, and Metric, a band whose album Blender Magazine described as "A deceptively pretty album with a dark heart," add to the eclectic tone of The Seven Rays soundtrack. Simultaneously released with the novel, The Seven Rays Soundtrack is available for purchase on AmazonMP3, and other digital distributors. "Music has always been a part of my life and work," says Jessica Bendinger. "I come from a family of musicians, and have lots of roots in the music industry. I listen to music while I write, and this book soundtrack idea was born out of my process: I listen while I edit and write, so why shouldn't the reader have access to that musical world as well? I wanted to create a more visceral experience, an opportunity to score scenes as they are read. It informed the writing process for me, and I'm hoping it will enhance the reading process, as well."

The Seven Rays was released on November 24, 2009 by Simon & Schuster. The story follows 17-year-old Beth Michaels, who uncovers elements of the supernatural on her journey of self-discovery. The words: "You are more than you think you are" mysteriously appear to Beth and ultimately drive her quest to discovering who she really is. The novel's appeal reaches well beyond the interest of young adults, as it explores the universal question"Are we making the most of our lives?" Already receiving glowing reviews from critics and fans alike, Deepak Chopra raved, "The Seven Rays takes you on a journey of mystery, magic, adventure and the intricacies of relationship and loveenjoy the adventure."
