The road-connoisseur Brooklynite will embark on a handful of intimate solo acoustic performances, leading up to a full band set at Lollapalooza in Chicago, August 7 with his Goddamn Band.
For his upcoming tour, beginning August 4 in Columbus, Ohio, Devine is getting interactive and has invited fans to pick the set lists for each show by sending their requests ahead of time to [email protected].
Last year, Devine joined his pals Brand New as well as Okkervil River for their respective sets at Lollapalooza, so this marks his debut as a performer at the annual festival. "This is completely bonkers for us," he exclaims. "We're stoked as all hell to head out there and be a part."
Devine has been touring relentlessly since April in support of his latest LP, Brother's Blood (Favorite Gentlemen), which has received the highest praise of his impressive career. The effortless confidence in which he moves between epic guitar freakouts and muted lullabies reveals a musical maturity that has heads turning. "He's such a canny writer and careful observer of human nature that his morose ruminations take on the aura of poetry," expressed Paste. Alternative Press simply declared: "It's easily his best album yet, expressing the personal through the sociopolitical scope."
