AceShowBiz reports that Tyler attended the 2009 Glamour Women of the Year awards on Monday and when asked if he was leaving the band, he responded, "does it look like I'm leaving Aerosmith?" He then reportedly added, "You know what it is, it's those people who are putting out Joe's [Perry's new solo] album." Actually it came from the following comments that Tyler made to Classic Rock magazine, " I don't know what I'm doing yet, but it's definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself Brand Tyler."
Joe Perry spoke to the Las Vegas Sun after those comments were published and said, "Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don't know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane and saw online that Steven said he was leaving. I don't know for how long." And then on Monday he wrote on his Twitter page that the rest of the band were "positively looking for a new singer to work with."
Was all just a big misunderstanding? A lack of communication? Perry told WKXL in Concord, New Hampshire on Monday "After the tour got canceled, [Steven] just kept drifting off and doing other things. We would hear things from different people. He wasn't talking directly to anybody in the band."
Joe and Steven are apparently talking again because Blabbermouth reported on Tuesday night that "Tyler joined The Joe Perry Project (the band led by Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry) on stage earlier tonight at the Fillmore New York" where he reportedly told the crowd that he isn't leaving Aerosmith. more on that
