Green Day are currently embarking upon their first UK tour since early 2005. It includes three sold-out London shows; two at O2 and a Wembley Arena show that was added due to phenomenal public demand. They will follow the tour with dates in mainland Europe before closing the year with further shows in Australia and New Zealand.
The band will also perform at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards that will be held in Berlin on November 5th. They're nominated for Best Live Act, Best Group and Best Rock.
The stage adaptation of Green Day's 'American Idiot' has proved to be a remarkable success throughout its world premiere run at the band's hometown Berkeley Repertory Theater. The show has had its initial series of dates repeatedly extended and now continues through to November 15th.
Produced by Butch Vig and Green Day, '21st Century Breakdown' opens the 'Act 1 Heroes and Cons' segment of its parent album and introduces its themes amidst a fierce combination of anthemic power pop and vitriolic punk attitude.
