SwampVoodoo will release a new orchestrated storytelling CD, At the Wheel a' Betty, on August 24th.

According to the announcement, "From outlaws to gamblers to voodoo queens, SwampVoodoo's Slick Black tells his clan's stories".

How many of us have longed to listen to those old-timey stories from the days of yore - stories of gamblers and grifters, voodoo queens, vampire hunters, smugglers and the like - told in an entertaining way? With SwampVoodoo's latest CD "At the Wheel a' Betty" set for release on Tuesday, August 24th, we all get just that - the orchestrated storytelling of the Slick Black clan - a family of basic outlaws and those of the type on the edge of the legal proper.

The band features Slick on guitar and low volume mutterin'; T-Time on ground thumpin' vibrational; Gato on sax and harp at the gate of hell; and Dr. Dan on voodoo beat stick. With influences ranging from Patsy Cline, Woody Guthrie and Elvis to swampvoodoo folk themselves, this storytelling quartet's sound compares to Dr. John, Tom Waits and the Cherry Poppin' Daddies.

Or as Slick Black says about his flare for storytellin': "What can ya say...we just don't fit nowhere..it's like goin to a AA meetin' drunk...not fittin ya know.....hell we been compared to Zappa..? Zappa..? i mean ok that would be cool but.....we were told it was like a David Lynch movie and we thought..that's cool too..but who really wants to be in a David Lynch movie so...we don't know...we are having a hell of alot of fun and let's face it - ain't that what it's all about any old way?...we are gonna do some thing and when we do.. well.. it'll be somethin'...hope ya'll enjoy this here music...I'd say we put our hearts in but that would require one and so....but we have a skeleton named Lenny and that is cool and he even likes to go on stage with us and he don't charge..so...we got some new stuff on the way as soon as ol' Slick here gets the rig fired up and off to the song shop I a goin'......so for now until it aint now no mo' remember it ain't safe in the swamp no mo'...n wear yer boots....don't be Slick cause I am... see ya........."Slick Black Truck Drivin' Man
