Carney Announce Pre Spider-Man Show
. In its live review of Carney's May show at Piano's, the Sentimentalist wrote that the band "proved to be purveyors of an unpredictably broad, bold, kaleidoscopic sonic palette. Shades of '70s glimmer rock, '80s Sunset Strip decadence (and a bit of The Police), and boogie blues all coalesced to impressive heights," while calling Reeve "a born entertainer, whose elegant looks and soaring voice (think a note-perfect mixture of Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke with shades of Chris Cornell's higher range) would make anyone nervous." Carney, comprised of Reeve (lead vocals/guitar), Zane Carney (guitar), Jon Epcar, (drums), and Aiden Moore (bass), are known for their incendiary live shows, selling out regular residencies at the El Rey Theatre and The Troubadour in Los Angeles. Named one of the hottest bands at Lollapalooza by Spin, the band has also won over crowds at Bonnaroo, San Diego Street Scene, and the Outside Lands Festival, with Entertainment Weekly naming Reeve "one of the 10 Rising Stars to watch in 2010." In addition, Zane, Epcar, and Moore will perform with the orchestra while Reeve takes the stage as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Julie Taymor-directed Broadway production of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, which begins performances November 14, with the official opening night set for December 21. The production features new music written by Bono and The Edge. After Reeve was cast, Bono raved, "Reeve is everything we could have hoped for: an amazing voice and a truly charismatic presence." Taymor has also cast Reeve in her upcoming film adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Tempest alongside Helen Mirren, Alan Cumming, and Russell Brand. Preview and Purchase Carney CDs |
