(Submitted) Kidneythieves have reunited and released Trypt0fanatic, their first new album in six years.

Vocalist Free Dominguez formed Kidneythieves in 1997 with instrumentalist/producer Bruce Somers. The band rose to fame in 2002 via their song "Before I'm Dead," which was featured on the platinum-plus selling soundtrack to Queen of the Damned.

"There's a magical thing that happens when we are creating in the studio," explains Dominguez, adding, "that's what pulled us together to make more music."

Kidneythieves formed in L.A. in the late Nineties when vocalist Free Dominguez crossed paths with instrumentalist Bruce Somers. The two shared a love of the claustrophobic, shadowy music that was creeping up from the underground with bands like Curve and nine inch nails.

Dominguez and Somers joined musical forces and were soon inked to Push/BMG, releasing their debut album Trickster to critical acclaim. "Trickster is an album that meshes dark industrial pulse with passionate female emotion," said All Music Guide, adding that the album was "a seething debut of industrial menace that knows when to show its sensitive side."

Soon after Trickster's release, Push/BMG was dissolved and Kidneythieves were picked up by the Extasy label. The band released Zerospace and made a few rare live appearances in support of Biohazard. Zerospace gained tons of noteworthy press. "Kidneythieves achieve everything they set out to do with this album," cited Popmatters, while Billboard echoed that Zerospace was "superbly capturing the sex-troubled throbbing of seedy discotheques and smoky rock clubs."

Kidneythieves shining moment came in early 2002 with the release of the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. Their track "Before I'm Dead" propelled the band to worldwide fame. Their music also landed in various TV shows such as CSI: Miami and in popular video games including Dax & Jaxster and Deus Ex 2, which featured Dominguez voicing the fictional pop star "NG Resonance."

Kidneythieves followed up with Trickstereprocess in 2004. But music industry fate dealt Kidneythieves another unkind blow as their new label went under. Disillusioned, the band went on hiatus at the height of their career. Dominguez went to Europe to work on music, released two solo records and played numerous live shows in Los Angeles, while Somers returned to his studio work, collaborating with everyone from the Pussycat Dolls, Good Charlotte and Sean Beavan (NIN, Marilyn Manson.)
