Kara Dioguardi Signs Neon Hitch
. "Neon Hitch is a star!" DioGuardi says. "I fell in love with her voice and personality the first time we met. She is a unique artist who has traveled the world and you can hear those influences in her vocal stylings and melodic and lyrical choices." "For the last two years, I've been trying to figure out my sound," says Hitch, who creates a striking effect by deploying her soulful, jazz-inflected vocals atop an organic backdrop of eclectic pop melodies and hip-hop tinged beats. "I've decided to just be myself because my life up till now is enough to fill 10 albums' worth of songs. That's why I'm planning to call the album Beg, Borrow, and Steal,' because quite frankly, I have done everything to get where I am now." Hitch has co-written "Stupid Love Letter," which appears on the Friday Nights Boys' album Off The Deep End and the When In Rome soundtrack. She also co-wrote the iTunes No. 1 single "Blah Blah Blah" on newly minted pop star Ke$ha's No. 1 album Animal. Hitch has worked with Miike Snow (appearing on Blanco's remix of "Burial"), Greg Kurstin, Mark Ronson, and Toby Gad. A song she wrote with 3OH!3, "Follow Me Down," will appear on Almost Alice a companion soundtrack to the new Tim Burton film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. On Friday, February 19th, Hitch will perform "Follow Me Down" with 3OH!3 at a star-studded concert celebrating Alice in Wonderland. The show, presented by Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Records, as well as Hot Topic, KIIS-FM, and MySpace, kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Hollywood & Highland Center's Central Courtyard in Los Angeles, CA. MySpace will host the exclusive live stream of the event at www.myspace.com/wonderland, powered by Ustream. Click here to read today's full Day in Pop report Preview and Purchase Neon Hitch CDs |
