Remember "Represent," that new song that Weezer recorded for the World Cup that we told you about? Now the band has partnered with the US Soccer Federation to create a video for the song.
The band, led by rabid soccer fan Rivers Cuomo, wrote and recorded the track to be used as the "unofficial theme song" for the US men's soccer team, and to commemorate the historic 2010 rematch of US vs. England in the FIFA World Cup- the first time the two teams have gone head-to-head since 1950.
The song can be streamed at http://www.weezer.com. The video and an interview with Cuomo premiered at ussoccer.org as part of their Studio 90 series on Wednesday June 23rd.
After triumphant appearances at Bamboozle and Bonnaroo Weezer is also gearing up for a string upcoming of shows and festival appearances in the US and abroad. The band will appear at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn, NY, the Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK and Seattle's Bumbershoot festival among others. See below for tour dates confirmed.
