We start off with news of a bit of trouble at a Metallica concert last Friday: According to elPeri�dico via Blabbermouth, Guatemalan police fired warning shots in the air and used pepper gas to disperse hundreds of Metallica fans who tried to rush into the sold-out Estadio Mateo Flores (reported attendance: 27,000) in Guatemala City Friday night (March 5) in order to see the veteran metal act perform. more

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark Linkous, best known for his acclaimed work with Sparklehorse, committed suicide last week, his publicist confirmed to Rolling Stone. more

The Kinks' drummer Mick Avory has confirmed that the band are planning to release an album featuring old as-yet unreleased songs and possibly new material. The band, who officially split up in 1996, already have "eight tracks" lined up for a new LP, he said. more
