Wooden Wand Maps Out Dates, Eyes Rocktober Album Release
Wooden Wand releases his new album, Death Seat, on Michael Gira's Young God Records October 2010. Death Seat was produced by Gira, recorded by Glossary's Joey Kneiser and Stephen Goose Trageser at the Haunted Mansion, Murfreesboro, TN and at Old Soul Studios, Catskill, NY recorded by Kenny Seigal; it is being mixed by Gira and Kevin MacMahon at The Walkmen/McMahon's Marcata Studios in New Paltz, NY. Death Seat is Wooden Wand's label debut for Young God.
All the songs on Death Seat were written by Wooden Wand himself - aka James Jackson Toth - who sings, plays acoustic and electric guitar and mandolin. He is joined in the studio by guitarist William Tyler (Lambchop,
Toth has worked with a fluid pool of collaborators over the past decade, and recorded for such esteemed labels as Kill Rock Stars, Ecstatic Peace!, Rykodisc, Troubleman and Three Lobed, all the while methodically exploring various admixtures of traditional folk, free jazz, rock-troubadouring, noise rock and other genres.
