Watch American Idol James Durbin Take On A Beatles Classic

(hennemusic) Go big or go home. Well, they don't come any bigger than The Beatles, and even the Fab Four don't get much bigger than when they're recording a song with Eric Clapton on lead guitar.

On this week's Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame-themed edition of American Idol Wednesday, James Durbin took a left turn and switched his game plan from all-out rocker to a place where he could reveal his intense, sensitive side, with a version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."

"I've done 3 big rock songs in a row; it's gonna be real unexpected for me to pull back," James told Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine and guest advisor Will I. Am. of The Black Eyed Peas. more on this story
