(Gibson) Roger Daltrey is promising that his performances of Tommy will be more faithful to the rock opera's original conception than any live show The Who ever did. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the veteran Who frontman said, "It's more like The Who were on record than we ever were on stage. It's interesting to hear it in its pure form with all the backing vocals and other instruments. There are also quite a few songs from the album that The Who never even played. I'm doing the whole thing."

Daltrey went on to say he's approaching the material from a new perspective. "My perspective of Tommy has always been from inside it not from outside," he said. "I think that the secret of the success of those albums in those days was the fact that the listener was getting their own subjective view of what it was about. With this show, I'm trying to take you on a spiritual journey."

The 45-date Tommy world tour kicks off on July 3 in Wolverhampton, England. The show, which also will feature other Who hits following the performance of Tommy, wraps up in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 2. more on this story
