Edward Rogers Delivers New Solo Album
. The eleven sonically distinctive compositions were all written and recorded within an 18-month period. "The title of the album" explains Rogers "directly reflects the emotions represented in the songs and my mood during the writing process rage, love, broken friendships, good days, bad daysfun days." All the songs on Porcelain were penned by Rogers, but also draw upon the talents of some notable kindred spirits. Don Piper, who co-produced the album with Rogers, is a celebrated songwriter and bandleader in his own right. James Mastro (guitar) was a founding member of both The Bongos and Health & Happiness Show and currently records and tours with Ian Hunter. Don Fleming (guitar) was the frontman for Velvet Monkeys, B.A.L.L. and Gumball and is also well known for producing Sonic Youth, Teenage Fan Club, among others. Bassist Sal Maida's extensive resume encompasses stints with Roxy Music and Sparks and he is a member of the band Cracker. Ira Elliot is the drummer for Nada Surf and the NY-based Bambi Kino. Pete Kennedy (guitar) is one half of the folk/pop duo The Kennedys and is currently recording and touring with Nanci Griffith. Drummer Konrad Meissner's credits include work with The Silos and Graham Parker. Keyboardist Joe McGinty has worked with everyone from the Psychedelic Furs to Ronnie Spector, and is the mastermind behind the long-running Losers Lounge series of all-star tribute shows, in which Rogers has long been a frequent performer. Claudia Chopek (violin/viola) has toured and recorded with Moby, TV on the Radio and Bruce Springsteen, among others. This unique assortment of disparate talents come together to bring Edward Rogers' creative vision to vibrant musical life on Porcelain, adding another dynamic chapter to an already impressive body of work. Representing somewhat of a departure in style both musically and lyrically - Porcelain reveals Rogers' edgier side ('The Biba Crowd,' 'Separate Walls,' 'Diamond Amour'), with echoes of the softer side shown on his past recordings ('Nothing Too Clever,' 'Tears Left In The Bottle,' The Silent Singer').
