(Gibson) On this day in 2006, Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor quit the band during the U.S. leg of their world tour. A statement on behalf of the group described the relationship with Andy Taylor as unworkable and one that could not be resolved. Gibson takes a look back: On this day in 2006, the Duran Duran fan club issued the following statement on guitarist Andy quitting the band for a second time.

"The four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached a point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together," read the letter, signed "Simon, John, Nick and Roger."

It was the second time the Duran Duran guitarist had split from Simon Le Bon and Co. Taylor, who played guitar on the band's first three studio albums in the '80s, originally left Duran Duran after the release of 1986's Notorious. He rejoined the group in 2001, following a spell with '80s supergroup Power Station. more on this story
