Mudhoney Star Says Grunge Allowed Ugly People To Rock

(RockAAA) Mudhoney mainman Mark Arm insists grunge was nothing new musically but he claims the difference was made by record label Sub Pop who 'turned the rock model on its head' and handed centre stage to ugly people for the first time.

Speaking to Rolling Stone backstage at the Pearl Jam anniversary festival PJ20 Arm, who is credited with being a founding member of what is reckoned to be grunge's first band 'Green River', also says he is glad to be out on the road again instead of being stuck in front of the TV at home.

"I don't think we did anything groundbreaking. It wasn't like we invented something that didn't exist before," He said. "Ugly people weren't allowed to rock before us."
