Singled Out: Van Hunt's Eyes Like Pearls
. I wanted the guitar distortion on 'Eyes Like Pearls' to sound so menacing that it could chase people down the street. The lyrics were written at the apex of discovery -- finding a monster living inside of a girl I was hanging with and falling in complete primal love with her. That song is about finding out who someone is, WHY they are the way they are and turning their scars into a reason to celebrate and change my life. Letting her know that I love her BECAUSE of the sh*t she has survived. Letting her know that everyone else is wrong and SHE is right to be who she is. The song is about a real f**king union, man. More than grass on fire, it is an earthen inferno -destruction as a pathway to creating what we wish the world Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
