Tiger Army Expand Octoberflame
. "I can't believe it's coming up on five years since the first Octoberflame," commented bandleader and founding member Nick 13. "I feel like there's a real legitimacy in hitting the five-year mark with any kind of a festival, as so many never make it past the first few." Octoberflame V kicks off with a two-night stand in San Francisco, followed by shows Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, Pomona and Tempe. This will be the first time Tiger Army has performed in the Bay Area in four years and their first show in LA since 2009's Octoberflame II. These will be the only Tiger Army shows anywhere in the world for the rest of this year. Fans have traveled from all over the globe for previous Octoberflame events and this year looks to be no exception. Tiger Army's "Spring Forward" saw the band headlining shows in Orange County, San Diego and Las Vegas earlier this year. Otherwise, Nick 13's primary focus has been on his emerging solo career. "Recording and touring the solo album delving into country and Americana music - has taken me away from Tiger Army to an extent, but it also increases the excitement I feel when I reconnect," 13 pointed out. Tiger Army will headline each night, as in previous years. Tiger Army's devoted following have come to expect varied set lists, deep cuts, handpicked support acts across multiple genres and other surprises. This year's Tiger Army curated bill includes: The Adolescents, Exene, .45 Grave, Suedehead, God Module, The Goddamn Gallows, Death March and Stellar Corpses in various configurations (exact lineup below). Previous Octoberflame support acts have included Mad Sin, Combichrist, The Quakes, Bleeding Through, Jack Grisham of TSOL, Agent Orange, VNV Nation and more. "I'm proud of the musical diversity that the Octoberflame represents," 13 said. "That's an idea that's come into vogue lately, but it's always been a part of both Tiger Army and Octoberflame. This year alone, support acts range from industrial to mod, from deathrock to hardcore, as well as the expected psychobilly and punk. I've drawn on all these genres for inspiration at one time or another, and people who appreciate Tiger Army's music tend to 'get it.'" "I'm proud to share the stage with legends like Exene, and to present lesser-known bands to our audience that I think they'll really dig," he added. "That's one of the things Octoberflame is about." For the devoted who tattoo the lyrics on "TigerBat" logo on their bodies, Tiger Army is more than a band it's a way of life. The Southern California's four albums and relentless international touring have infused the psychobilly genre with the interest of countless new fans.
