Cake Drummer's Ex Wife Doesn't Think He Molested Girl

. (TMZ) The drummer for the band Cake -- who recently stood trial for child molestation -- is getting some serious support from his soon-to-be ex-wife ... who claims she trusts the guy around their young kids.

As we previously reported, Peter McNeal was accused of molesting a 3-year-old girl at a Thanksgiving dinner back in 2009. A judge declared a mistrial last month after a jury was deadlocked 11-1 against McNeal.

It's possible McNeal will be retried on the molestation charges. Now, his estranged wife Jill has filed new court docs in their ongoing divorce ... hoping she and Peter can share joint physical and legal custody of their two children, ages 10 and 8. Lisa had originally asked for sole physical custody, but apparently, she's had a change of heart.

Lisa's lawyer tells TMZ ... Lisa has "no problems or concerns" about Peter and doesn't believe he is guilty of the molestation charges. "She is perfectly fine having joint custody with him." more on this story
