(Prog) Prog Magazine has premiered the video for new Magenta track The Lizard King. It's taken from the band's sixth album The Twenty Seven Club, due for release on September 2 and composer Rob Reed is convinced it's their best work yet.

"If there was ever a blueprint for what Magenta is about, I think we've achieved that vision," He tells Prog. "I hope people who have dismissed us in the past will give this album a try we've raised the bar. The songs and production are the best we've done."

The single version of The Lizard King is cut down from the 12-minute epic that appears on the record. Reed says: "We chose it as the lead track because it represents what the whole album is about: great songs, melodies and musicality."

The Twenty Seven Club has been five years in the making, and it's inspired by the group of artists who died aged 27, including Jim Morrison (known as 'The Lizard King'), Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain. Check out the video here.
