Gavin DeGraw Explains Breakfast Club Inspiration
. "I was in the car with my rep at the time, and there was an old song playing on the radio," he explained, as he sang "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds. "It was from The Breakfast Club, and I was thinking, 'Man, I would love to cover this song!'" The song that followed on the station was also a very familiar one. "The next song that came on the radio was 'Follow Through' and I was like, 'Oh, no way! I can't believe it!'" For DeGraw, the whole experience of hearing "Follow Through" that day was "very ironic," as The Breakfast Club soundtrack, he explained, was his very first tape, given to him one Christmas. "It was really fortuitous that it would be the song that was on the first tape that I ever had as a kid, [and that] it would be played after that song. Pretty amazing, really. That's so crazy." more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
