Bon Jovi Blocked Shinedown Covers Album

(Classic Rock) Shinedown's acoustic covers album was put on hold after Bon Jovi refused to let them release a version of "Wanted Dead Or Alive." Frontman Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers revealed plans earlier this year to record ten of a set of tracks chosen by fans, including material by the Clash, Phil Collins and Metallica.

But Myers says they ran into problems when getting clearance to put the record on sale. He tells This Is Not A Scene: "It was going to come out and it was going to be no problem. It looks really cool, sounds really cool, and then we wanted to release it as an album too.

"That's when you get into publishing – you have to get permission, and two of the artists were like, 'we don't like anyone covering our songs.' I'm not going to say who… Bon Jovi… and so that was kind of that." more on this story
