(Radio.com) The Queen of Soul is gearing up to pay tribute to other female singers who have achieved royal status in the pop world. According to Billboard, Aretha Franklin's next album will be a "concept" record in which she will cover songs from an "ultimate list" of female artists that she respects including Barbra Streisand's "People" and Donna Summer's "Last Dance."

"It's just re-working some things that were very, very good and certainly chartworthy and sold a lot of records," Franklin told the magazine, joking she's even thinking of covering "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child.

"They're records that, musically, I respected and that I liked a lot and that I would love to have one go-'round withI have very high standards where music is concerned, and I'm looking for something I haven't done, something that you haven't heard and something just absolutely smashing."

Franklin plans to start recording the new album in Detroit in early 2014 with producers Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Don Was. Clive Davis will serve as executive producer for the album, which she hopes to release this spring. more on this story
