Robin Thicke Explains What To Expect From His New Album
. The album shares its title with Thicke's latest single, which garnered him his first No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart as of this week and topped the charts in 27 other countries as well. In an interview with Radio.com this week, Thicke gave us a preview of the LP. "I've always written and produced my own music," he said. "My last album didn't sell very well in fact, not at all. I thought to myself, 'Maybe I'm just being selfish and I want all the credit and I want everybody to love me and know how great I am and all this BS.' And then I realized, this time, I'm not going to do it all on my own. I'm going to hire some of the great hitmakers in the business and try to make some music everybody can enjoy instead of just my small fanbase." On Blurred Lines, Thicke enlisted the help of will.i.am, Timbaland and Dr. Luke. His next single, "Give It 2 U," was produced by Dr. Luke and features Kendrick Lamar. "It's very exciting," Thicke said of the "Give It 2 U." "It's very Michael Jackson, Prince but also pretty hip-hop. It's a big, shiny pop record. It's fun." In addition to enlisting guest stars, Thicke decided to tackle a new idea within his songwriting. Rather than write about his own life as he has done in the past, Thicke focused on just having fun, thematically, with his new songs. more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
